Having served the Indiana area as the number one towing service provider for the past five years, we have many stories of customers who found themselves stranded as their car stopped working. We are happy to provide a rapid response during such emergencies, but we know that it is not a great moment for our customers. It is why we wanted to create a little guide to help you resolve some common car issues before they become very serious.
- Engine Misfire
If you have to try and get your engine started a few times before it gets going, it may be time to take your car into the shop. Do not wait until your car stops working entirely, as it could happen in the most inopportune moment.
- Battery Issues
The most common reason for a battery to unexpectedly stop working is when the lights in the car are left on overnight. Perhaps you were looking for something before you went inside to your apartment and you forgot to turn off the light. Always double check before you close and lock your doors. A dead battery can sometimes mean your car never starts, but it can also put you in trouble when you are on the road.
- Fuel Levels
It is remarkable how many people will let the fuel in their car go all the way down to the empty line. While it makes sense to fill up a tank when it is close to empty, it is better to have some wiggle room.
The last thing you want is to end up stranded on the highway because you ran out of fuel before getting to the nearest gas station. While we are happy to send a truck with some fuel to assist you, your days will go a lot better if you just fill up your tank when it is three quarters empty instead of all the way!
